To Love Or Not To Love?

It's the last day of February! The month associated with love, love and love. At least, that's what we're told on TV, radio and the media.

So before the month of love ends, guess I should pay some tribute to it.

A search for the definition of love led me to some interesting quotes related to love.

This is what I found to be the most 'conclusive' definition of love:

"To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering one must not love. But then one suffers from not loving. Therefore to love is to suffer, not to love is to suffer. To suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy then is to suffer. But suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be unhappy one must love, or love to suffer, or suffer from too much happiness. I hope you're getting this down." - Woody Allen

Drama vs Reality

Finally.......

... finally (panting)...

... finally finished watching the final episode (episode 82!) of TVB drama 'The Gem of Life'...

I did not start from the first episode. I only started watching from episode 68 onwards (you could still understand what happened before). My brother (who has been following the drama series from the beginning) came home and watched it during CNY, so I just watched along from where he stopped. Thank goodness for that. Else, I really could not take it. Really fed up and annoyed with the characters, how they manipulated and deceived one another.

Basically, it has a simple storyline. A and B are rivals. So A teams up with C to harm B. B, on the other hand, manipulated D to deceive C so that C will betray A. A wants to seek revenge and blackmails D. So D has no choice but to turn C in. A and B then become partners due to business reasons and compete with C. C gets angry and hires E to spy on D, who knows F, who ........ ok, ok..... maybe a simple graphic representation would give you a clearer picture....

Yes, that's what the main plot of the story is about. Even a six-year-old kid's drawing is easier to understand :p

On a closer look, the relationships among the characters do resemble a diamond. No wonder the title :p

Really need something light now...... something like American Idol!

Yes, it's back with a new season. Despite having the same format (or 'plot') every season, it's still a nice reality show. Even minus the drama, the clowns, or Simon's comments, I'd still go for the talents and the performances.

And I accidentally discovered another reality show on TV! It's called 'I Survived a Japanese Gameshow'.

This is what the show is about. 250 million dollars. Two teams. One 'survivor'. Challenges. The winning team gets the reward. The losing team has to vote out two members to play in the elimination round.

Sounds familiar, eh? Yes, it's like Survivor, except that:

- Instead of Jeff Probst, it has an English-speaking Japanese host (though I cannot seem to understand him sometimes)

- Instead of an isolated island in a small corner of the world, the contestants are stranded in Tokyo!

- No mountain-climbing or river-crossing. Instead, the two teams have to play (in both the challenge and the elimination rounds) in a Japanese live game show called the Majide. Yes, it has a live audience in the studio and it's broadcasted live on Japanese TV.

It's kinda funny in a Stephen Chow way, if you know what I mean. With games having names such as 'Sticky Sticky Bang Bang' and 'You Stand Still. No, You Stand Still', you can expect lots of unimaginable and gross 'dramas', where the players are spun, hung and pulled, thrown around, forced to wear weird gears, etc.

Cannot imagine it?

Here's part of an episode I found on youtube. Enjoy yourself :p

FREEDOM!

Prompted to write this after watching 'Braveheart', which was shown on TV the other night.

Freedom!

That's the last word from Sir William Wallace before he was beheaded after a series of tortures. At least, that was what happened in the movie. I am not sure how much of the content in the movie was based on historical facts.

The controversial statue of Sir William Wallace

Anyway, the movie told of a Scottish knight, Sir William Wallace, who led commoners to fight against the English army. He won a series of battles, the most notable being the Battle of Stirling. Unfortunately, he was betrayed a few times by the Scottish nobles, which eventually led to his capture and execution.

Sounds familiar, isn't it? Kinda ironic that the movie was shown a few days after the shocking 'change of government' in the state of Perak.

What's the point of spending billions on election, only to be over-ruled by the decision made by one person, who was supposed to protect the rights of the rakyat?

But hey, this is a good movie in the making... just imagine.... our own version of Braveheart..... which tells the story of how some awakened commoners went out to fight and won the Battle of 308.... but betrayed by some 'hopping noblemen (and noblewoman)'.....

That, of course, is not the end of the story. Let's just hope that justice will prevail.
