The day I lost my 'legs'

I will be 'legless' until next week. Yes, that's how I feel without my car. It met with an accident. Yup, IT.... and thankfully, not me.

Today was probably another one of those bad hair days for me. Sent my car for snow wash, as I always did once in a while. Went to the same place. The same car-wash centre I've been patronizing since I first brought my car here. What customers usually do is to leave the car-keys there and let the workers wash and drive the cars to the dry area for vacumn cleaning. And the worker in charge of my car rammed mine into the car in front..... sigh... I could only watched helplessly when it happened.....

The accident was probably a 'penalty' for being loyal.... this centre used to be the only one on that row of shops. When I drove there today, I turned when I saw a car-wash sign. But halfway into turning, I realized that it was not the one I usually patronised. One look around, and I discovered 3 car-wash centres on that row. I was already halfway, and I paused for a while trying to decide if I should try out this new one or went back to the old one. But there was a car in front still being washed. So I decided to reverse and went to the one I always visited.... which turned out to be a big mistake.....

The bonnet and the front part of the car were dented. The car plate was smashed. One headlight was smashed. Luckily, no internal injury on the engine. As for the car in front, a Kenari belonging to a Malay lady, there were some dents on the bumper and the back door. The Malay lady was not around when the accident happened as she went out to buy something and left her car there.

I was shocked and at a loss for words for a while. And worried too. I was the only lady there and surrounded by the workers, a group of Indian guys. The guy who smashed my car looked scared and asked if I could wait till next month when he would get his pay. Actually, I kinda sympathised him. But someone had to pay for this and that someone could not be me. Anyway, his co-worker called the boss so all of us waited there silently.

A good Samaritan who was having his car washed at that first centre I mistakenly entered came over after hearing about the accident. Seeing me alone with the Indian guys, this Chinese guy waited there for the boss with me. Maybe I looked like a damsel in distress hahaha...... and when the boss arrived he spoke to the boss for me too....

Another lucky thing was that the boss (also an Indian) was really nice about it. No fuss or anything. In fact, he was still smiling, as if that was something he dealed with everyday (which I later found out to be quite true!). He immediately called a workshop.

Alvin, whom I called earlier, arrived not long after. And it turned out that the guy from the workshop knew Alvin cuz he sent his car there once. I consider that another lucky thing cuz I've heard of dishonest workshops where they replace your spare parts with non-original ones. At least this one could be considered a 'friend'.....

The workshop guy told us these kind of accidents happened very frequently at car-wash centres because their shoes were slippery due to the foam. In fact, one took place last month at this centre where a MyVi rammed into a Honda (no wonder the boss was casual about it). And co-incidentally, the Malay lady who owned the Kenari was there during the MyVi-Honda affair. She told me she had been battling with herself earlier whether to get her car washed at the centre after witnessing that 'affair', but decided to come in the end. Unfortunately, it ended with a Kelisa-Kenari affair :p

So now, I will be without my legs for one whole week. Mun Yee drove me to the pasar malam just now and I bought some veggies and stuff. Guess I'll have to cook these few days. Maybe this is a good opportunity for me to brush up my cooking skill (if I have one to start with :p).....

hmmmm... i wondered if they are insured against this kind of things... otherwise how could he have afford to fix these kind of accidents every month?

CY: Hahaha... hopefully I won't create a mess in the kitchen :p

Bamboo: Not sure if there exists such an insurance policy. Or he just cut the salary of the worker? But I think the boss is rich. He arrived in a Mercedes with a Singapore plate number.
